$750.00USD, which includes all in-country transportation, two meals per day, five nights accommodations, and donations to organizations we speak with and communities we stay with. Airfare is additional.
Trip highlights may include:
-Chicken bus and truck ride to Santa Anita Coffee Cooperative where we: Browse historical photos from Santa Anita, Meals with individual families in community, Walking tour of land and field, Visit to basic school, primary school, and kinder class, Tour of beneficio, roaster, and dryer, Discussion with Santa Anita about the process of cultivating coffee, Travel to other nearby cooperatives;
-Meet with Entre Mundos, an organization which promotes positive social change in Guatemala by supporting and expanding the capacity of communities and non-governmental organizations;
-Meet with Café Conciencia, an international non-profit organization that works to improve the quality of life of poor coffee farmers and their families in Guatemala;
-Tour to Mirador Del Santiaguito, Aguas Amarga and waterfall, Volcan Santo Tomas, and the pueblos of Zunil and Almolonga;
-Meet with Manos Campesinas, an umbrella organization that works with 8 grassroots organizations of four different geographic departments, all of them small coffee producers, with the main goal being the commercialization of the products of its members, preferably through international exportation;
-Tour Copavic 100% recycled-glass blowing cooperative;
-Tour the beautiful city of Quetzaltenango;
-Visit local produce and traditional handicraft markets;
-Sample delicious traditional Guatemalan food.....and more!
