Bike and Biodiesel Delivery

Mike Moon delivering coffee by bicycle

We bike deliver the vast majority of our local deliveries within a five mile radius. We do this because it is low-impact on the environment and because, frankly, it is fun.

Our main bike-delivery person is Mark Bystrom. He is an ex-messenger from Chicago and he moonlights at Revolution Cycles. He has a cool "sweeper" moustache. If you see him, give him a nice wave. But don't honk 'cause it makes him jumpy.

We also have a bio-diesel van for regional deliveries and for company trips. It is a 1997 Chevy 3500 that was formerly a school van in Boston. We bought it on Ebay, which is kind of scary.

We use biodiesel because no one as of yet fights wars over soy oil and because it is much better for the environment. It also smells like french fries cooking.

We buy our soy bio-fuel from Great Lakes Biofuels and from the Praerie Fire Biofuels Co-op. We plan to convert to waste veggie oil as soon as we have the cash to do it.

If we hear that troops are massing on the border of Iowa or that Wisconsin is suspected of hiding WMDs, we will reconsider our path. For now we think soy bio is sustainable.

You had better be carefull, there are a lot of hungry cows now that all the corn is going to make Ethanol. It may be a good idea to start to use the waste cooking oil as soon as you can. www.thebiodieselnews.com
